Not feeling so good? Yuck! So, while laying on the couch watching back to back episodes of Twin Peaks, here are a few little family remedies to help you fight the rotten common cold.

Hot Toddy
whiskey
lemon
honey
cloves
cinnamon
and stir in some hot water and warm on the stove. Yeah get that into ya!
Sore Throat Soother
hot water
honey
lemon
cut up ginger
sage
A natural mix to help soothe a sore throat.

Home Made Pho Recipe
You can make your own pho with the recipe below, or order some at your local Vietnamese restaurant. The hot intense spices will fix you right up, but don’t forget the tissues!
To start you need to make a delicious stock.
Oil
1 dessert spoon coriander seeds
1 dessert spoon fennel seeds
1 dessert spoon cumin seeds
1/2 stick cinnamon
1 or 2 star anise
8 cloves garlic
1 onion
8 chicken legs on the bone
1 lemongrass stalk chopped
4 kaffir lime leaves
10 cm piece of ginger
3 litres of water
fish sauce
palm sugar
spring onions – sliced
rice noodles – blanched
red chillies – sliced
bean sprouts
Asian basil
coriander
mint
Vietnamese mint
lemon wedges
Heat – oil in pan and add all spices for a min
Add – onion, garlic, chicken, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, ginger and water
Bring – to boil and cook for an hour
Strain – broth and set aside chicken
Put – broth into clean pot bring to a light simmer
Add – some fish sauce (very strong so be gentle!), and palm sugar, salt and taste test
Place – broth into bowls
Take – chicken off the bone
Add – chicken to bowls with noodles, spring onion, chillies, bean sprouts, all herbs and squeeze lemon juice into the Pho.
(oh if you have some asian greens like bok choy in the garden, add that at the last minute for more goodness!)
