This gorgeous old fashioned looking herb is called Tansy. It has cute little gold button flowers with a fern like foliage. Tansy grows to around two meters, and can be quite invasive, so be careful where you plant it. I love it! It’s said to be a natural insect repellent too! So grow it in pots around entertaining areas and your house to deter flies and mosquitoes. It’s also said to deter fleas. Anything’s worth a try I say!

An interesting fact is it contains an oil called thujone which can have a stimulating effect on the uterus and have serious effects in pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breast feeding women. So don’t use tansy as an essential oil and steer clear of it if you’re any of the above?
