Leaves are the best things for mulch. Rake them up and put them around your trees for a cheap way of keeping some moisture in during summer, and warmth in for the cool months! Although do be careful not to mulch too close to the main stem, as it may cause stem rotting. If you have way too many leaves for just mulch, then composting is a great thing to do too! Also running over leaves with the lawn mover can be good if you need to break them up a bit. Then rake up and use at will.

So don’t burn your leaves or fill your garden waste bin with them, put them to good use!
